Wedding Clothes - Making the Right Choices

Though there are many details involved in planning a wedding, choosing the wedding clothes is probably one of the most important ones. Wedding clothes for the entire wedding party need to be coordinated and ordered well ahead of time in order to allow for changes or alterations that need to be made.

The bride’s wedding dress - As far as the wedding clothes go, the bride’s wedding dress is almost always the most important piece of clothing, as well as the most expensive. The wedding dress usually sets the tone for all of the other clothing worn by the wedding party, and it will reflect what type of wedding that the couple is having, as well as how simple or elaborate the wedding will be. For a large, expensive traditional wedding, the wedding dress will usually cost anywhere from $500 to $20,000 or more. Choosing the right wedding dress can be a very involved process, and it is best for the bride to get help making the decision. For brides who have a large budget to work with, a fashion consultant can be a big help. If a fashion consultant is too extravagant for your budget, it is at least advisable to bring along a fashion-knowledgeable friend or family member when you are shopping for your wedding dress. You may even want to start with wedding magazines that feature wedding dress designs before you go shopping so you can get an idea of what you are looking for. When you go shopping, it is wise to know what you are looking for so that you are not confused by the large amount of choices that you have. The best thing to do, however, is trust your instincts. Most likely you will know the perfect wedding dress when you see it.

The groom’s suit – Lets face it; grooms are usually nowhere near as choosy about their wedding suit as brides are about their wedding dresses. For this reason, when the groom is undertaking the task of choosing his wedding outfit, either the bride or someone whom the bride trusts to help him make the right choice should be with him. One of the best places to go to choose the groom’s wedding suit is a store that deals exclusively in suits, and not a department store that has only limited choices. The personnel at a store that deals in suits almost exclusively are usually experienced in providing wedding suits for grooms, and can be extremely helpful to the couple when they are making their choice. It is usually best for the bride to choose her wedding dress first so that the groom’s suit can complement the dress. Though it may seem like choosing the groom’s suit is an easy decision, there are details that can take some time to decide upon.

The bridesmaid dresses – What the bridesmaids will wear is almost always the bride’s decision, and she will need to take into consideration the color theme of the wedding as well as what will go best with her wedding gown. For a traditional formal wedding, bridesmaid dresses should be simple but elegant, and should not be so detailed or flashy that they distract from the bride’s wedding gown. Once again, working with a fashion consultant or knowledgeable friend or family member can help tremendously here.

The ushers’ suits – Probably the easiest decision to make when it comes to the wedding clothing, the suits worn by the groom’s ushers and the best man should be slightly different than the groom’s wedding suit, but should complement it in a pleasant way. Most of the time the ushers’ suits can be chosen at the same time as the groom’s wedding suit is ordered, making it easier for everyone.

Choosing the wedding clothing can be a formidable task, but with good cooperation and some careful planning, the process doesn’t have to be too stressful.
